Priest’s garments
Exodus 39:1~7 From the blue, purple and scarlet yarn they made woven garments for ministering in the sanctuary. They also made sacred garments for Aaron, as the Lord commanded Moses. (1)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #89 Jesus, Rose of Sharon
After the problem of Genesis 3, a disaster struck all mankind. The Bible refers to this as a state of wrath. The solution to resolving this problem is only recorded in the Bible. The chief culprit in this disaster is man, but the one who maneuvers man in the background is Satan. The greatest sin of all sins is being oblivious of God. Even now, Satan wants man to fall into sin and be destroyed. On the other hand, God sent Jesus Christ to this earth to rescue His people.
1. The solution that God gave
God resolved the problem of Genesis 3 through the Offspring of woman. During the age of Noah in Genesis 6, He brought judgment by flood on the disastrous problem that entered the families and society, but as recorded in verse 14, He opened the door of salvation by simply entering the ark (Christ). After the incident of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11, He explained that those who succeed in the world as well as the cultures that were uplifted by defying God can only be restored by the blood of the lamb (Exodus 3:18). Because man cannot receive salvation by his efforts or good works, God promised it as a gift for those who believe. Like Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14) and Peter (Matthew 16:16), those who know the solution given by God and hold to God’s promise by faith will receive salvation.
2. Priest’s garments
Clothes define a person’s status. There is a reason why the Levite priests wore separate clothes. It differentiated their status and position from the world. However, regardless of the countless numbers of priests, the problems of sin and Satan were not solved. Therefore, God sent Jesus Christ, the true priest, who resolved all sins and the problem of Satan. Those who believe in Christ wear different clothes. They have a distinct status as the royal priesthood (1Peter 2:9) that differentiates them from others.
3. Reason for conviction
We must remember that although Satan can never steal away our status as children of God, he is constantly pursuing us with tricks to make us fall over. The moment we lose assurance, he attacks with deceptions. When you enjoy the Gospel and stand convicted in your salvation, Satan flees and the forces of darkness crumble. Satan cannot lay a hand on those clothed in Christ and those who possess the authority of the Gospel.
- Do you accurately know your status and authority? Are you wavering with no conviction? Jesus, the chief priest, has solved all problems. Change your clothes today.
