Paul’s prayer
Ephesians 1:15~23 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength (17~19)

The average person is thrilled to make money. We are also happy at the prospect of certain earnings. Likewise, when we receive answers, we are thrilled, and when we face the prospect of certain answers, we are at once joyful and thankful. If we do scheduled prayer at least once a day, we will be able to conquer and overcome ourselves. If not, we are doomed to always live by our own level. When we pray, we can also receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As we live our lives, problems will come, and anxieties will befall us. When we are filled with problems and anxieties, difficulties will continue to pile upon us. It is through continuous prayer that we can overcome this. If we can do deep prayer at least once a day, we will experience this power and conquer all of our circumstances. That is why prayer is an important mystery of God. What did Paul pray about in today’s Scripture?
1. He prayed first about three things.
First, he prayed for wisdom and the spirit of revelation to make God known to him. Christians spend their lives knowing God more and more each day. Second, he prayed for the eyes of his heart to be opened to understand what His calling and true hope is, and to also understand the abundance and glory of His work. Third, he prayed to understand the greatness of God’s might and power as He bestows it upon us. Paul’s prayer is the best example.
2. Within Christ
The method of prayer to receive God’s power that will never change is always ‘within Christ.’ The things of the world may be tarnished and diminished, but if we are within Christ, nothing will ever diminish. When we are within Christ, we cannot be destroyed. Furthermore, there are great mysteries of prayer within Christ. God is upon the throne, and God holds the governance, and all authority and power. God has given to us the name of Christ which no other name and no king can possibly overcome in all of creation. Enjoying this every day was Paul’s prayer and Paul’s faith.
3. Realistic spiritual blessings
When people who know Christ truly pray, God will send His angels to work. This is the background of the throne that all children of God possess. Whenever we pray holding on to the Word, the authority of the throne will be revealed. When we leave this earth, we will enjoy God’s blessings in heaven. This is the blessing of the throne. The vessel in which we hold all of these blessings is our love for other lay people and our faith.
- Paul prayed everyday whenever he had time, and even took time out for prayer. Let us make our own time of prayer.
