True faith
Romans 16:25~27 now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith – to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. (25~27)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #515 Lift Your Eyes and Look to Heaven (#256 in previous version)
First and foremost, a child of God must restore personal prayer. Without the restoration of personal prayer, even with all the blessings granted to you, enjoyment will not take place. To heal the spiritual state that has grown so devastated that prayer does not take place, you must hold on to God’s Word and meditate deeply. What does the personal prayer that we must restore and the true faith that God desires have to do with each other?
1. Resolution of the fundamental problem
True faith believes in the fact that our fundamental problems have already been resolved. What is the fundamental problem? The Bible tells us of the three incidents that brought man to failure. Unseen to the eye, Satan attacks and destroys the individual and family, even now (incident of Genesis chapter 6). People continue to lift up their own names and defy God as they build the Tower of Babel (incident of Genesis chapter 11). As a result, unbeknownst to himself, man belongs to the devil, worships idols, suffers from mental and physical problems, ends up in hell upon death, and leaves pain as an inheritance. We must believe in the fact that we have been liberated from this problem.
2. Restoration of the fundamental blessing
Restoring the most fundamental blessing is true faith. When Joseph was enslaved and imprisoned, he succeeded with the blessing of Genesis 3:15 (offspring of woman), when Moses was leading the Israelites out of slavery under Egypt, he held to the blessing of Exodus 3:18 (sacrificial offering), and when the Early Church was conquering Rome, they grasped the blessing of Matthew 16:16 (Christ). We must restore these blessings every time we pray, and also the blessing of Isaiah in Isaiah 7:14 (Immanuel). We must restore, also, the blessings of the king, priest and prophet, through scheduled, continuous and deep prayers.
3. The method of God
We must discover and enjoy the blessings that God has hidden before creation. This is the method of God. Because we already possess the greatest things, we must acquire a greater faith than the unbelievers or people of other religions, who do not. Henceforth, if we enjoy personal prayer just a bit, the answers God has prepared will immediately present themselves before us as evidences. Having a sure grasp of this fact is true faith.
- Meditate on how you can grasp Christ’s covenant and enjoy the fundamental blessings today and throughout your entire life.
