The conscience for the life of an evangelist
2 Corinthians 1:2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #300 Just When I am Disheartened (#406 in previous version)
Despite the fact that God is guiding us perfectly, there are times when we remain clueless and waver. The greatest blessing God has given to us is the Gospel and the calling as evangelists. Some people may ask, ‘While I am thankful for having received the Gospel, isn’t evangelism so difficult to do?’ This is not so. There is no need to have any anxiety, concern about evangelism, nor do you need to find it difficult; we must simply do evangelism with just a little bit of conscience. Then how can we challenge ourselves to live the life of an evangelist?
1. Life of an evangelist
We have received the Gospel through the grace of God. More than the question of doing well or not, praying for the Gospel, enjoying the Gospel in our lives, and resolving to relay it to others is what we must do in all good conscience, as people who have been called as evangelists. More than overwhelming ourselves with trying to achieve lofty goals, it is important that we make smaller, more feasible plans and live our lives as evangelists. We must first enjoy being with God in our lives, and share the grace of God with others, help those who need to be healed, and live our lives for the sake of the Gospel in the field. Ultimately, it is important that I enjoy the Gospel first and foremost, and only then share it with others. It is at that point disciples will be raised and world evangelization will be achieved.
2. Neglected people
There are so many neglected people around us. There are so many students studying abroad, and conversely, so many expatriates and foreigners living among us in Korea. In particular, there are so many people who are thirsty, prepared and loyal in schools, and among the workplaces. We must help these people properly. We must be able to see the souls God has entrusted to us.
3. Things to do
We are living busy lives, both in mind and in body. Though our lives may be hectic, if we sincerely help those that we meet instead of merely passing them by, we will see changes little by little. The doors of their hearts will open, and the time schedule of being truly able to hear the Gospel will take place. Though many people may not express it outwardly, people possess their individual hidden problems. If we are truly Gospel-centered and help them just a little bit, the doors to evangelism will open. Challenge yourselves to lead the lives of evangelists in all good conscience today.
- Meditate on whether your life is, in all good conscience, the life of an evangelist. Write a list of people around you, and make a plan to carry out evangelism one by one. This is the life of an evangelist.
