Many people in the world set goals and live a weary life as they strive for success. What is more, they do succeed in their endeavors now and then. However, Paul’s idea of success was different. He considered the so-called success of the world rubbish. He realized the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ. Thereafter, the desires, goal in life and method of running the race changed for Paul. Philippians 3:7~14 What is the true success that believers who hold the eternal citizenship of heaven must come to realize?
1. Resolving spiritual problems
If we accurately understand the Gospel, our spiritual problems will be resolved and true success will begin. Hardships and failures are bound to follow after specialty without God and success without God. Because God has a plan for us, it is our priority to discover our God-given talents. The success of those who know and enjoy the Gospel is true success.
2. Being used to prevent disasters
Obeying the absolute plan and inevitable calling of God is true success. Then naturally, we will walk the path of an evangelist who blocks disasters. To do so, we need to be imprinted with new things. We must put off our old self, which is wasting away, and put on the new self of the Gospel, which is only possible through the filling of the Holy Spirit. We must challenge ourselves with regard to the thoughts, balanced lifestyle, and habits that must become newly imprinted in us.
3. Knowing the problems of the whole world, namely ‘missions’
Cornelius and Simon the tanner, who were used in the evangelization of Rome, were people of success. Because they dwelled within these blessings, their homes became a mission home and their business field became a business for missions. Accurately knowing the field in need of the Gospel is the beginning of missions. Being considerate of others and going together with them are evangelism. Having the power of prayer of concentrating ourselves on God inside this mystery is true success.
