Today’s Scripture reading records a scene where Elisha wins the battle even without coming face to face with the Aramean army in the city of Dothan. What is most needed for the children of God? We must possess strength. What kind of strength is it? We need the strength that God grants to us so that we can have victory in the world without even fighting. There is something important that we must absolutely find as we take a look at Elisha.
1. Find and enjoy spiritual strength
Like Elisha, we must find and enjoy the spiritual strength that is only granted to the children of God. Elisha was well aware of Elijah’s strength at the battle on Mount Carmel where he fought against the false prophets of Baal and Asherah. Works will arise when we break down the forces of darkness that are unseen to our eyes. In addition, Elisha knew about the strength of Mount Horeb, where God sent an angel of the Lord to Elijah and strengthened him when he was sapped of strength. We must find and enjoy the blessing of the throne and the mystery of the Word of God. He also knew the strength of Jordan. Elisha followed Elijah until the end and asked for a double portion of his spirit and received God’s power. We must find and enjoy this spiritual strength.
2. Raise disciples
There is another strength by which we can win without fighting. In Bethel, Gilgal and Jericho, Elijah and Elisha raised and trained disciples who held on to the important covenant. We only need to find and raise these disciples because God has already prepared them. Great works will take place even if these disciples gather their strength together. When the disciples of the Early Church were raised throughout the regions, no power could block them.
3. Carry out the movement of the city of Dothan
If disciples and the descendants of faith gather their strength together in the Gospel, they can save and restore all fields. With Elisha at the center, the system that would block the Aramean army was raised centered on the city of Dothan. We, too, must raise a discipleship system in which the disciples throughout the world and the Remnants° can come together to do world evangelization. If the disciples who possess spiritual strength gather their strength together, they will easily have victory in spiritual battle.
