The tragedy of the double graves
Acts 5:1~11 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.” (3~4)

What God has given to us is absolutely real, scientific and spiritual. Christ solved all problems. If those who hold on to the mystery of Christ enjoy the kingdom of God, they can save many people in their field. In addition, Jesus promised the filling of the Holy Spirit to those who possess the mystery of Christ. If we can find happiness, gain strength and discover the answer from this, we will have success; if not, we will waver when we face problems or critical moments. There were those who were caught in this problem.
1. Those who lost hold of the covenant
Ananias and Sapphira witnessed the power of God and the sure evidence of the Gospel and yet did not believe in it. It was because they lost hold of the covenant. The man who took into his possession the things devoted to God during the fall of Jericho was Achan. Achan may have tried to devise various schemes to hide the stolen articles, but he was not successful in his attempt. Things may appear to go well temporarily, but there is no need for us to envy or fear those who have lost hold of the covenant.
2. Those who will come under Satan’s attack
No matter how well people of the world appear to live, there is no need to fear them. Rather, we must save them. Satan hinders people from receiving God’s grace and makes them fall into trials. He drags people into destruction by deceiving them into believing that false success is real success. Outwardly they seem great, but someday they will come under Satan’s attacks and crumble. They appear strong but they are the ones who need consolation from those who have the covenant.
3. Greater answer
The whole church and all who heard about the death of Ananias and Sapphira were seized by great fear, but the apostles did not waver. If the believers who hold on to the Gospel do not waver, greater works will take place. A great many wonders and miracles took place at the hands of the apostles. A large number of men and women believed and came before the Lord. Through Peter, greater answers arose and the sick as well as those tormented by evil spirits were healed.

The reason why people of God lose hold of answers is none other than the misconceptions that they have. If we just refrain from falling into misconceptions, we will not lose hold of answers. Are we perhaps holding on to something other than the covenant?
