Why does humankind not have happiness? In the Bible, it says that it is because people have been deceived by the one who deceives, the one who destroys and the father of lies and have become separated from God. Because of the original sin of separation from God, humankind completely fell into curses and destruction. However, God appointed humankind for salvation and sent Christ. This is the greatest Gospel. How can we properly believe and experience this Gospel?
1. Peter’s realization
Although people are children of God who have been saved, they do not know how great the blessing of salvation is. Elijah and John the Baptist of the Bible performed numerous miracles and showed powers. However, the blessing of salvation given to the children of God goes beyond that. Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ, and realized how strong and powerful the Gospel is. It was about realizing Jesus is the Christ who transcends the great people in the Bible, who saves humankind and solves all problems.
2. Peter’s confession
Peter confessed, “Lord, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Here, ‘Lord’ means that He takes responsibility over everything in my life. In addition, ‘Christ’ is the name that Satan fears. Humankind cannot change their fate and destiny on their own and cannot escape curses. That is why the Son of the living God, Jesus Christ, was sent. Jesus promised that Peter who believed and confessed this Gospel would be given the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
3. The evidence that appeared to Peter
Although Peter was weak, he received evidence that would remain throughout history. Although Peter was weak to the point that he denied the resurrected Jesus and ran away, ultimately he stood as a main figure of Mark’s upper room and opened the door of the evangelism movement. Through Peter who experienced the Gospel, the crippled beggar arose in the name of Jesus Christ, and the fact that Jesus Christ is the unique Savior was proclaimed in the courts. In this way, the evidence of the age changing arose through Peter who looked to only the Gospel.
