Next to Elijah who received great historical evidence and enjoyed God’s power, there was Elisha. Elisha was a farmer, but when God called him, he did not hesitate to burn his farming equipment and follow Elijah. It is because he saw the power and authority of God. To Elisha who cast everything down before God’s calling and went forward, God allowed him to experience great power. What was the power of God that Elisha experienced?
1. Miracle of evangelism
Evangelism is saving other people who have left God and are walking the path of curses and destruction. When the Shunammite woman’s son died, Elisha prayed to God and saved her son. Also, he raised the miracle of getting rid of the poison inside the poisoned food and feeding one hundred people with twenty pieces of bread. Through such miracles, many people came to believe in the power of God and the fact that God is living and even acknowledged God’s sovereignty. God gave Elisha His power and opened the doors of evangelism.
2. Miracle of missions
Near Israel, there was a mighty nation named Aram. There was a commander of the army who was named Naaman, and he was dying from leprosy. At the time, Elisha healed Naaman, and the name of the Lord was spread throughout the region of Aram through Naaman who experienced God’s power. The Gospel that was only spread to the Israelites had come to spread to the world through the mighty nation of Aram.
3. Miracle of the Remnant ̊ movement
Elisha built a fortress at Dothan and relayed the covenant to the future generation. At that
time, Aramite soldiers surrounded the walls and they fell into crisis. However, Elisha saw
that God sent horses and chariots of fire to protect the ones with the covenant. He saw
the power of God which is greater than anything that belongs to the world. When Elisha
prayed, God blinded the eyes of the soldiers of Aram and they did not invade them ever
again.
