David was a shepherd but he was always interested in God’s Word. He had his heart set on the Ark of the Covenant and always lamented the lack of a temple to properly house it. He made it his lifelong goal and commission to properly house the Ark and relay the covenant to posterity. Once we realize the importance of the covenant, we must pass on the mystery to the posterity. God will then give us the same blessings David received. David sincerely wanted to relay God’s desire to the posterity.
1. David received blessings when he passed on the covenant
David told Solomon to prepare a temple to house the Ark of the Covenant and to enjoy God’s Word and hold on to it firmly. God gave Solomon, who continued on the covenant of temple construction, wisdom as deep and wide as the ocean. He also gave him the blessing of trading with empires from afar, which granted him immense fame and wealth. God blessed Solomon to the extent that various kings dreamt of meeting him. Ultimately, Solomon received the blessing of constructing the temple through this blessing.
2. There is something David did not relay
Although David relayed to Solomon the commission regarding the Ark of the Covenant, he failed to firmly relay the crux of the covenant contained within. Despite receiving immense blessings from God, Solomon wound up losing hold of the covenant and began to fail. He married many women who did not know God and had a harem of 7,000 concubines and queens. One thousand of the women brought their own idols from their native lands and idolatry spread far and wide across Israel. Consequently, internal disputes raged across Israel and the country eventually split in two.
3. Solomon regretted one thing
After facing difficulties, Solomon stood before God. Solomon confessed in Ecclesiastes that everything was meaningless. Although he possessed enormous wealth, fame, power and prestige, Solomon confessed in his final years that the unique solution was the covenant. He realized that only the Jehovah was real and that the only truthful thing was to look to the Lord Jehovah. We must relay the mystery of the covenant− that Jesus is the Christ− to our posterity before they are rooted in something else.

We can relay many things to the posterity, but the Gospel is most important. Think about how to relay the Gospel and pray for the Remnant ̊ movement.
