David was a superb soldier who defeated Goliath, as well as the greatest politician in Israel. He became a historical figure noted for enjoying God’s blessing throughout his entire life. David had a mystery that he kept close to his heart from his childhood all the way to his deathbed as he spoke his final legacy. The mystery was the God-given Ark of the Covenant and the covenant found therein- essentially, it was the Gospel. David always meditated on the covenant and enjoyed the strength that others did not possess. What was God’s plan that David enjoyed?
1. Experiencing the covenant
David always meditated on God’s Word. When he held onto God’s plan to crown him king as his lifelong vision, God’s Word was fulfilled in his life. He honed his skills and developed his faith within the Word and experienced God’s power firsthand. To David, sufferings were merely a part of God’s preparation to fulfill His plan. Success is guaranteed when you enjoy abiding with God day and night, as David did.
2. Experiencing the commission
As Samuel anointed David with oil, he passed on to David a God-given covenant. It was the vision to construct a temple to house the Ark of the Covenant which signified the Word of God. After holding onto the temple construction as his very own commission, David prayed morning and night to God and enjoyed spiritual strength each moment. God blesses those who have the greatest commission to the utmost.
3. Experiencing power
Young David was strong enough to fight a lion with his bare hands and win. He did his best at what he had to do within his God-given power and wisdom. Because David had true strength given to him by God, he was not shaken even when Saul persecuted him. God even blessed him with the necessary funds to build the temple. Like David, when we enjoy true answers and hold onto the true commission, we will experience true power.
