Experiencing the prayer of being with God
1 Samuel 16:23 Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
David can be considered the person who received the most answers in the Bible. However, David faced myriads of difficulties. But he did not waver even in the face of death because he experienced the mystery of abiding with God through prayer. What was David’s secret to enjoying the blessing of Immanuel without shaking even in dire circumstances?
1. Scheduled prayer
David enjoyed prayer in his alone time even from an early age. This habit of praying morning and night continued even as a king. Scheduled prayer is not any prayer, but a time in which we heal our deep-seated scars and prepare the nature of prayer. When we take into heart the Word God has given us and pray, we will enjoy the mystery of being with God; it is natural then, for praises to come out. It is at this point that we can discover the skills and vision God has given us.
2. Filling of the Holy Spirit
When we enjoy being with God through scheduled prayer, we will taste true happiness, and prayer will take place. The main point of prayer is the filling of the Holy Spirit. Just as the spirit of the Lord came upon David,1 Samuel 16:1~13 we too, will enjoy the filing of the Holy Spirit. At that point, we will have the power to change the world. We will not be shaken even in the world that is full of darkness, and instead, we will stride boldly toward the plan God has for us. Scheduled prayer is meant to heal us; during this time, we will enjoy the filling of the Holy Spirit and the restoration of the kingdom of God.
3. Evidence in the field
When we experience the filling of the Holy Spirit through scheduled prayer, God’s power will manifest in our fields. When David was filled with the Holy Spirit, the evil spirits inside of Saul fled. Likewise, the truth that God is with us and adds power to us through the Holy Spirit will manifest in the field. God’s Word will be fulfilled in the field. When we enjoy this blessing, the work of transcending our realities to see the future will take place.
