Door of evangelism

Acts 8:4~8 With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed. So there was great joy in that city. (7~8)

When Philip spread the Word of God in Samaria, may people heard and believed the Word; essentially, evangelism movement had taken place. The diseased were healed of their ailments, and those suffering from demon possession were also cleansed. The same thing happened when Peter relayed the Word. Healing does not take place by some special effort. Rather, the work of healing takes place when the Word is proclaimed. What kind of healing takes place when we relay the Word of God?

1. Basic healing

People have physical and mental afflictions because we have left God. When we believe in Jesus Christ and become a child of God, spiritual healing will begin. When we meet someone, the first thing we ought to do is relay the Word of God. It is through the Word that what has been improperly instilled in our hearts will change. When Jesus Christ is imprinted in our hearts, both our thoughts and bodies will be healed. Additionally when we enjoy the filling of the Holy Spirit, our schools, workplaces, and families will be revived through the Gospel.

2. Healing from diseases

Faith that compels you to merely pray without going to the hospital even when gravely ill is incorrect. However, at the fundamental root of all illnesses and problems is the spiritual problem from leaving God. Knowing this truth, we need simply to go to those who are suffering from physical ailments and relay the Word of God. Many people suffer because the causes of their illnesses are not known. Mental problems, such as depression, are particularly severe. We need to relay the Gospel so these people can receive the Gospel and be healed.

3. Healing of society and culture

Today’s culture is diseased and held sway by the forces of darkness. Though scientific technology has developed, crime is on the rise, and the general mentality is becoming all the more depraved. We need to heal the culture of darkness and change it into the culture of the Gospel, and the culture that saves lives. Many people attempt to attain happiness through worldly culture and pleasures, or even by seeking religious organizations. We need to help them find true happiness by relaying Jesus Christ the Savior.
