Psalm 90:1~17 May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. (16~17)

Growing up in the palace as a prince, Moses was treated in the best way. However, Moses became a fugitive after trying to help an Israelite with his own strength and faced many hardships. Nevertheless, he experienced the God of the covenant and came to possess the mystery of prayer. The blessing given to those who have received salvation is the prayer of enjoying the God of the covenant. What was the mystery of prayer that Moses discovered?
1. Absolute answers
Moses heard stories about the Messiah to come from his mother. The covenant that was imprinted in his heart was realistically experienced 80 years later when he received the calling from God on Mount Horeb. That is when he held onto God’s absolute answer, entered Egypt, and led the Israelites out of Egypt. He experienced the fact that God was with him through the 10 plagues that came upon Egypt and the parting of Red Sea. When we meditate on the Word and pray, God’s almighty power comes upon us.
2. Wisdom to number our days
Moses prayed to God for the wisdom to number his days. Although Moses lived like a sojourner for 120 years, eventually, he found refuge within God’s embrace. Moses confessed this fact through prayer and acknowledged God’s sovereignty. There are limitations in a person’s life. Moses who realized this fact knew that he could live only by God’s grace and prayed that God would grant him mercy.
3. Answers after Moses’ lifetime
Answers continued even after Moses’ prayer. The work of God appeared through Joshua after Moses. God parted the Jordan just like He parted the Red Sea, led the Israelites across dry land, and crumbled down Jericho. Also, He bestowed the miracle of stopping the sun and moon in the sky and answered Moses’ prayer of having God’s grace and blessings come upon the future generation. If you enjoy the mystery of prayer, answers will continuously come.
