David, who appears in today’s Scripture reading, possessed the strength to change the nation of Israel and the age. When he was in the pasture by himself as a shepherd, young David quietly meditated upon the Word of God and prayed. He also sang praise, giving glory to God, and restored the covenant. Psalm 78:70~72 God raised David as a king and gave him the blessing of constructing the temple. If you can enjoy deep prayer in your everyday life as David did, what kind of answers will you receive?
1. He will grant you a vision, talent, future, and commission
Although David was merely a shepherd boy, in the midst of meditating upon the Word and prayer he discovered a talent that God had given to him. When you hone your talent on a daily basis, God will show you the path of the future. David who had held onto the covenant of God that he would become king realized his commission to build the temple. From that day on, David was filled by the Spirit of God,1 Samuel 16:13 and when he gave praise, the evil spirits departed.1 Samuel 16:23
2. The time schedule of enjoying answers will come
As a shepherd, the vision of becoming king seemed distant from David but God had prepared a time schedule for him. When Goliath invaded, David defeated him with the talent he had prepared. David waited for the time schedule of God and prepared spiritual strength through prayer and the Word, all the while polishing his God-given talent into a skill. God showed His time schedule to David who had prepared spiritual strength and skill.
3. He overcame the crisis that surfaced as a result of success
Although he had defeated Goliath, David became a runaway due to King Saul’s jealousy. However, David confessed that, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing,”Psalm 23:1~6 never falling into unbelief or discouragement. David feared nothing for he had seen God’s plan for the future. As a result, David finally constructed the temple, receiving the guidance of God as he held onto his commission before the Lord.

Through David who looked towards God’s plan in prayer, great answers and blessings were fulfilled to the point where they were recorded in history. Deeply meditate on the Word to become a person of prayer that rises to the greatest seat and gives all glory to God.
