Isaiah 6:13 And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so they holy seed will be the stump in the land. ♬ Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #435 Thou, My Everlasting Portion (#492 in previous version) We may sometimes encounter someone of great success and accomplishment and feel powerless and inferior in comparison. But if we think, ‘I’m inferior to others,’ or ‘Nothing works for me!’ repeatedly every day, we cannot possibly be happy. On the other hand, overflowing with arrogance and superiority that prevents us from seeing ourselves clearly, and only talking grandly while holding onto overblown goals do not lead to happiness either. People who fall into both the former and latter have either altogether failed to see an important truth or have misunderstood it. What are some of our own misunderstandings?
1. God-given blessings The greatest blessing God has given us is the identity and authority to pray to God and receive answers. So many people think that prayer is simply the act of asking for something. Of course, as we pray, we can ask God for this and that; but the point of prayer is enjoying God abiding with us in any circumstance. When we enjoy this truth, we will find happiness in prayer. We will also gain God-given power. We will see God’s plan, and receive God’s guidance. We will be able to relay the Gospel to others with the answers God will give us.
2. Important content in the Bible In the Old Testament, God promised to send the Messiah. Every time the Israelites let go of this promise to grasp in vain for idols in unbelief, God forced them to realize anew the mystery of the Gospel by means of war, or by forcing the Israelites into captivity and slavery. He allowed difficulties to arise to allow predecessors to relay the Gospel to their posterity. Even in the New Testament, Jesus emphasized planting the Gospel to the next generation. When the women began to cry as Jesus was crucified, he told them to not cry for Him, but for their childrenLuke 23:28. He sought Peter, who had denied him and fled, and requested him to feed His lambsJohn 21:14~18.
3. What we must hold onto today If we are not fully aware of who we are, we may fall into an inferiority complex and despair, or a superiority complex and live an exorbitant life. Even when we are stranded on our own in a situation where no one can help, we will not fail if we simply think correctly. God has prepared an answer and blessing for us. We must remember that God has called us as the main figures of this age. We need simply to find the reason why He has sent us. Once we find that reason, happiness will bloom in our lives.
Forum Topic God’s concern is focused on the place where a person of the Gospel relays the Gospel to another person. Ask yourself who you are, and meditate on the reason God has given you the Gospel.
