How to let go of what has been imprinted in you
Deuteronomy 6:1~9 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. (4~6) God gave the Israelites the covenant as well as the mystery of saving a dying field. But the Israelites failed to enjoy the continuation of the covenant in the Gospel, and ultimately faced their demise. That is because they did not fully make God’s Word and power their own. To succeed in any attack by the worldly culture, we need to make God’s Word our own. How do we do this?
1. We need to change what is controlling our lives through the Gospel.
Depending on who the master of our lives is, the very purpose of why we live and our goals in life can change. The Israelites, who were God’s chosen people, faced cyclical failure because they did not know one thing. Because they still had the scars remaining from their days of slavery in Egypt, even though they heard the Word of God, it was only momentary. Because of their already imprinted scars, they could not remember the Word; rather, their own problems seemed so much bigger. Only when the Word of God is imprinted in our thoughts, hearts, and every fiber of our being can our lives change. Our master is Jesus Christ- not ourselves.
2. When we enjoy the Word of God even when we are alone,
God’s work can begin. In the face of the same problems, unbelievers make choices based on their own standards, but children of God think in a Gospel-centered way, and do not give up until God answers. Even when something unexpected occurs, we must have the power of prayer that allows us to not forfeit our blessings by giving in to our emotions. God’s work will begin when our lives are filled with the unique power of God. If we don’t have the time of being with God, all our problems will remain as scars, and we will have no choice but to fail.
3. We must realize the mystery of becoming a witness in the field.
The forces of darkness know our weaknesses, just as God does. They use our weakest points to shake us and prevent us from receiving blessings. But God knows all this, and gave us the power to trample on snakes and scorpions and the power to bind and expel the forces of darkness in the name of Jesus Christ. God told us to love our Lord God with all our hearts, whether we are sitting, or walking, or lying down, or getting up. The miracles of God will begin as we think about the Word of God in our fields and the moment we resolve to pray before God.
