Those who belong to the spirit
John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life ♬ Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #41My Soul, Praise the Lord God created man in His image. Our spirit is unseen to our eyes, but we must enjoy our lives as we are provided with the spiritual power from God. It is because we men are fleshly beings; we are inclined to things that are visible to our eyes and make wrong decisions as we let the spiritual blessings slip. How can we uncover the spiritual power without falling into conflicts?
1. Assurance of the saved
If we are sure of Jesus Christ living in us, then it is clear that we are God’s children whom God has saved. At times, however, we get discouraged and lose self-esteem because of trifling matters. At such times we, as the ones who have received salvation, must correctly grab hold of the covenant that God has given to us. We must open not our physical eyes but spiritual eyes and look to the covenant of God who works by His Word. Even amidst hardships, if we look to God’s plan in the Word, He will give us amazing answers.
2. Life of being born again as disciples
Even among the saved, crowds and disciples differ. If crowds of people are the ones who are saved through Jesus Christ, disciples are the ones who have discovered the answer to their lives through Jesus Christ and stake their lives on it. While crowds may waver, disciples are not easily swayed under any circumstances. If our spirit belongs to God right now, we can make resolutions of faith whenever we encounter conflicts and overcome any difficulties. Right now at this moment, we must correctly see whether we are with or without the Spirit of God.
3. Blessings that those who belong to the spirit receive
Those without the spirit are inclined to conflicts and quarrels and will be counted among the party that pursues fleshly gains. Those who belong to the spirit, however, are God’s fellow workers. Is there any area in our mind that is conflicted? Now is the time to think about and make a decision regarding where we stand. Depending on where we belong, our perspectives of seeing the world will be determined and we will come to know what the blessing that God has granted to us is. If we understand the spiritual blessings, we will dwell in the place of the fundamental blessing of living according to the way that God desires for us to live. In addition, with the foundation of the blessings that are given to us, we will be the evangelists that save afflicted souls.
