Blessing given to those who have received salvation
1 Corinthians 2:1~16 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. (4~5) Why do we study, work and eat? Can we truly be happy if we do what we want to do and have a lot of money? We can never have true happiness by our own power. God must give us true happiness by His grace. It is written, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.1 Corinthians 1:18~31 What are the blessings given to those who are being saved and what kind of blessings must we uncover?
1. What are the blessings that the believers of the Early Church enjoyed?
Something inconceivable happened to the believers of the Early Church. Even though Christians were persecuted and put to death, 120 believers who staked their lives on the Gospel gathered together and prayed. They were hindered with every possible means and measures, and yet doors opened in 15 nations and evangelism disciples gathered from all over the world. Even Paul, who was in the forefront of persecuting Christians, converted to believing in Jesus Christ, which was a great shock to people. Nothing ever can stop the works that God will do. The blessings that we enjoy in God are the genuine blessings.
2. Where is my heart directed?
Without having any interest in the Gospel, many people complain that their lives are trying and difficult. With their heart set on the world, they complain, saying, “Does God really exist?” Through the believers of the Early Church who put their heart on the Word and grabbed hold of God’s plan even in the face of death, 3,000 disciples arose and the evangelism movement took place throughout the world. What my heart is set on is important. There is nothing important besides saving lives.
3. What about the 7 Remnants° in the Bible?
When faced with problems, the 7 Remnants in the Bible acted boldly in anticipation of receiving blessings. At times they fell and lost strength because of problems, but they never lost hold of the pride as children of God. They never feared even though they were put through many hardships and faced death. We lack power, but God has tremendous power that is beyond our imagination. Though we are weak, if we become bold in the Gospel and enjoy the status and authority of children of God, we can have victory no matter what kind of problems come our way.
