1 Corinthians 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe ♬ Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #502 Heralds of Light, Be Swift (#259 in previous version) We may have heard the Gospel and began our life anew, and yet there are times when we find ourselves unable to break free from the past customs and habits and simply dwell in our old selves. Seized by our personalities, temperament, or complicated problems in our family, we are accustomed to having unbelief and worries just as we had done before without believing in the power of God. However, God not only took full responsibility of our life but also has plans for the Gospel to be testified through us. Because He has called us as evangelists, He will provide us with strength and answer us. What are the blessings that God has given to us evangelists?
1. Are we thankful for the salvation that we have received? While we were separated from God, seized by sin and curses and living miserably, God Himself came to us. While we were deceived by the forces of darkness and were living and struggling in darkness and sufferings, God made us His children. He granted us the status and authority of being children of God and gave us the key to receive answers to prayer. Whenever we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, He guides us by the Holy Spirit and answers us. We are thankful for the salvation that we have received as a gift, and He even gave us the blessing of sharing the Gospel with our lips. Is the confession of thanksgiving flowing from our lips today?
2. Are we receiving the guidance of the Holy Spirit? God, who has given us the blessing of salvation, wants us to receive answers. He desires for us to enjoy the blessing of being children of God, break free from the scars and pain in the past, and live joyfully and peacefully. Because God is leading us by the Holy Spirit, we just need to entrust to God all the stress and problems that we encounter at every moment. Especially, if we direct all our attention to finding other evangelists that God has sent to the church, we will meet those who are prepared. God will attach disciples to those who are overflowing with the thanksgiving of salvation and are seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
3. Are we living the life of spiritual mutual communication? Paul the evangelist and his disciple Timothy connected with each other. Night and day, Paul constantly remembered his disciples in his prayers, gave thanks to God and understood the tears of his disciples.2 Timothy 1:1~5 Those who love the Gospel and devote their whole lives to propagating the Gospel will know about the circumstances of one another and pray and offer a helping hand.Colossians 4:7~8 Likewise, pastors and members of the church must have a mutual understanding. They must not only spiritually communicate but also have a beautiful relationship of understanding each other’s lives deeply and help with each other’s needs. Continually raising up such disciples in the church is none other than refreshing God’s spirit.1 Corinthians 16:18
Forum Topic The more we meditate on the blessing of salvation, the more we find things to be thankful for, and yet oftentimes, we live with complaining words and a resentful heart. Let us seek God’s will that will be fulfilled through us as we deeply ponder upon the mystery of salvation given to us.
