Joshua 14:1~15 So on that day Moses swore to me, “The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.” (9) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #267 ‘Tis the Promise of God (#201 in previous version) Core Training Message / 2012.12.08 What problems are you standing before? God tells us, “Be strong, do not fear, and do not panic.” Have a time of enjoying the strength of the covenant continuously with which the people of faith had victory. Moses knew the Gospel and received salvation, but could not enjoy God’s blessings. However, after experiencing prayer once on Mount Horeb, he restored God’s blessings. Most people know the Word only in their head and cannot enjoy the Word in their lives. It is because they do not have the spiritual strength to overcome the world. If the people of God who have been saved follow God’s Word and gain spiritual strength, what would happen?
1. We will gain the strength and faith of the covenant with which we will have victory in any circumstance If we do not have spiritual strength, we cannot receive grace even if we go to church and live meaninglessly in the field. God knew that people do not have strength and gave them the covenant. He was with the Israelites who walked in the wilderness through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He sent His angels before them to protect them. This was to let known the fact that God is living to all people who easily forget His existence. We need to have spiritual strength to see the problems of the world correctly and to have faith.
2. We will gain the realistic strength to destroy Jericho Moses and the Israelites who experienced the ten plagues and the miracle of the Red Sea died after time, and only their descendants remained. At that time, Joshua became the leader to succeed Moses and firmly kept his faith in the face of great unbelief. God gave Joshua the unprecedented answer to his prayer of stopping the sun and moon in the sky and even allowed him to conquer Canaan amidst impossible circumstances. It is because the descendants who did not experience the work of God needed a new covenant. If we discard unbelief in any circumstance, we will gain new strength from God.
3. The hidden mystery of the covenant is relayed to other people A person wishes to leave his school, work, or family when he is not acknowledged of his value or is ignored. However, it was not important to Caleb in which position he stood because he knew the hidden covenant that God gave him. Just like he served Moses, Caleb served Joshua after Moses’ death. Just like the covenant Moses had was delivered to Joshua, Caleb, and their descendants, we need to prepare the character and strength to relay the mystery of the covenant to other people.
