What is true success?
Genesis 45:1~5 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. (4~5) Joseph became the governor of the powerful nation, Egypt, at the end of many hardships and trials. You would think Joseph would have wanted compensation for the hardships and sufferings he faced, but he did not seek his own happiness or satisfaction. Instead, he forgave his brothers who sold him as a slave to Egypt, and he humbly confessed the works that God had planned. What do you think the meaning of success that Joseph had in his heart was about? What was the mystery by which Joseph overcame many hardships?
1. Joseph had a mystery
Joseph enjoyed the blessing of salvation of a child of God. As he already had the Gospel, he was not discouraged before all problems and incidents. No matter where Joseph was, the Lord was with him. Joseph had mutual communication with God and received answers 24 hours a day. In addition, Joseph was filled with the power of God to the point that people who did not believe in God could see that God was alive. In addition, he accurately saw and followed the plan of God.
2. Joseph knew the greatest answer God had given
If you know in advance the end of a movie, the adversities and suffering that comes out in the middle do not hit your heart and you merely see them as a part of the process. Joseph accurately knew the blessings God gave him. When he was young, he embraced in his heart the commission of world evangelization to share the Gospel to all the world, and as God was always with him, he received guidance. Even when he stood in front of the Pharaoh of Egypt, he did not lift himself up, but rather lifted up the power of God. 3. Joseph had the strength to have mutual communication with God
Joseph always had mutual communication with God through prayer. Believing in the plan God had given, he asked God questions. If you have the strength to have mutual communication with God, all the incidents and meetings in your life become blessings. When you have mutual communication with God, you will try your best even in the small things because you know that they are the process by which God’s great plan is fulfilled. As Joseph knew the plan of God, he did not fall into discouragement because of his brothers who brought him hardship or Potiphar’s wife. Instead, in the face of hardships, he asked God questions and enjoyed Immanuel.
Joseph had continual mutual communication with God and enjoyed Immanuel 24 hours a day. As you think about how you are communicating with God today and enjoying the power of God, write down some concrete action items.
