Suffering is the path for blessings
Genesis 40:1~23 But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison. (14) The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him. (23) These days, it is an age where if you just have financial power you can easily gain what you want and you can go a long distance without much difficulty. The world is constantly working hard and changing to become a world that is good to live in. However, no matter how much effort or research is done, there is a problem that you cannot solve. If God is not with you, even if you have good items or money, your suffering and problems will not be solved. There is God’s hidden plan in the suffering that began from Genesis 3. What is it?
1. Although it seems as though a problem has come, there is a blessing hidden within it.
As Abraham left Ur of the Chaldeans and was going to the land of Canaan it appeared that he was faced with a tremendous hardship, but it all became an opportunity to enjoy the blessing of God. Also, as Jacob was living 21 years away from home, it appeared that he was facing great hardship and suffering, but Jacob who was a person of God’s promise received the greatest blessing of Israel. Through Potiphar’s wife, Joseph’s life appeared to be struck with suffering; however, that suffering became the opportunity for Joseph to receive the blessing of becoming Egypt’s governor. Although things appear to be problems to us, God regards them as opportunities to give us blessings. In our sufferings, God’s perfect plan is hidden.
2. There is a better path prepared in big incidents
Joseph went to prison, which is called hell on earth. At this time, if Joseph had fallen into discouragement or grumbled against God, he would have lost hold of God’s blessings. However, Joseph did not lose hold of the mystery of prayer in prison, waited for the work God had planned, and ultimately, became the governor of Egypt. It was the pre-destined time schedule of God that enabled the path of suffering that Joseph had lived to become the path of blessings. The greater problems or sufferings, the better the plan that is prepared.
3. The chronic scars and problems are resolved through the mystery of prayer
God showed Joseph the sure covenant that would arise in the future when he was young. Joseph was not sad amidst his brother’s aggravations, and prayed. Even when Joseph was sold as a slave, he waited for the work God would do. When a hardship comes to you do not lose hold of the line of prayer by which you grab hold of the covenant and refrain from falling into the problems and scars. If a hardship has come to me right now, I must enjoy the mystery of prayer, like Joseph, and resolve the unknown scars stacked in me through prayer. I will not be able to see the path God has prepared for me if I am fallen into my problems or bound by them. Are you by any chance wandering, unable to find the path God has given you? Are you starting your day grumbling against people? Like Joseph, grab hold of the covenant in the Word in order to enjoy the mystery of prayer in your lifestyle.
