My given commission
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. ♬ Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #357 Am I a Soldier of the Cross (#387 in previous version) What is the most valuable gift you have been given in your entire life? The things of the world are temporary, and will one day wear out and disappear; however, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will never change. Those of us who accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior must enjoy what we have already received within grace through prayer. When we deeply meditate on the Word and restore prayer, God will give us the filling of the Holy Spirit and heal our hearts and thoughts. If so, what is the commission God has given me as a person who knows Jesus Christ?
1. Voice of God
In every important events, God makes us listen to His voice in our conscience through the Word. Thinking about God’s will and Word as the standard are so very important in all decisions. Moses, Elijah, and Esther all moved after receiving God’s command and not by the standards of the world. Ultimately, all their difficulties became answers. Additionally, when the Holy Spirit came upon the Early Church in the midst of persecution, their circumstances or environment no longer became obstacles. When we abandon the standards of the world and our own thoughts, God will lead us to what is best.
2. A rightful, inevitable and absolute commission
The commission God has given us does not require great power or effort. It is a commission God will rightfully fulfill, and is inevitable and absolute. Peter was a very lacking person in the perspective of the world, but God gave Peter the commission of saving the Jews. Additionally, He gave Paul the commission of saving Rome. Paul and Peter’s commissions were in itself a blessing and answer.
3. Commission to relay covenant to posterity
The commission given to children of God is to enjoy the Gospel abundantly in our lives in which Jesus is the Christ, and to relay this mystery to our posterity. The entire family must gather to share the Word, and must deliver the covenant to their children while praying. Additionally, they must relay the Word to the youth and children who do not know the Gospel, and must pray for the blessings God will fulfill through the posterity. It is at this time that God will give us the answer of the age coming alive through the Gospel.
Forum Topic The greatest of all answers is realizing our God-given commission and discovering blessings within it. Meditate on the kind of answers God chooses to give us, and what kind of works He desires to fulfill.
