Meditation on the Word of the covenant

It is not easy to find those who will receive the Gospel. However, there is something you must remember. Evangelism does not take place through one’s power. For the evangelists, God has prepared the Word containing the covenant of Jesus Christ and His time schedule. When you deeply meditate and enjoy the Word of the covenant, God bestows greater spiritual power upon you and raises you up as an evangelist. Then what is the Word of the covenant, and why is it imperative to meditate upon this Word?
1. Knowing the function and works of the Word
The Word of God is spiritual milk, as stated in 1 Peter 2:1~3, that nurtures us in salvation and is sharp as a double-edged sword, leading us to make a resolution of faith before the Lord. In Hebrews 4:12~13, it states that the Word reveals the covenant, in Deuteronomy 29:9 like rain, snow and water the spirit flows, giving life and allowing us to experience the power of God. In Ephesians 5:26~27, the Word ministry pertains to rebirth, and renews believers. In addition, in 1 Peter 1:23~25, the Word nurtures believers through corrections and lessons, watching over and working to transform them.
2. Discover the reason to meditate upon the Word
After Fanny Crosby became blind, her mother and grandmother first read her the Bible. By memorizing Bible verses and meditating upon the Word of God she received grace and her disability was no longer an issue. God granted Crosby knowledge, and allowed her to write lyrics to songs. As a result of meditating upon the Word of God, Crosby has left behind hymns that have saved people for the last hundred years. David, Timothy, and Paul were critical figures who enjoyed meditating upon the Word. They discovered God’s plan within His Word that was inscribed upon their hearts. When you fill your mind and heart with the Word, work of God arises.
3. When you realize the essence of the Word, you will receive answers
The essence of the Word is the Gospel. When you meditate upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ addressed in the Scriptures and the kingdom of God, the truth will be seen before your eyes. At that moment, you will discover the answer within the Word and you will be able to share this answer to others. This is evangelism. When you have been raised as an evangelist before the Lord, you are able to make upright resolutions according to God’s desire. Daniel and Esther received tremendous answers when they resolved within God’s plan in the face of death.
