Men of Galilee
Acts1:11 “MenofGalilee,”theysaid,“whydoyoustandherelookingintothesky?This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” ♬ Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #254 I Hear Thy Welcome Voice (#186 in previous version) God’s standard is different from man’s standard. At times, God works through the people who have no background and are full of fault even though there are others who have attained scholarly knowledge and commendable character. However, this does not mean that people will be used by God only when they have no background and are full of fault. Instead, God looks at the heart of the people who loved the Gospel and completely immersed their life in the Gospel to the extent that it surpassed their scholarly knowledge and background. The men of Galilee were like this. Through what kind of people does God display His power?
1. Those who have experienced the Gospel
God’s power is displayed through those who have experienced the Gospel. God worked through the people who held onto the promise that He would send the offspring of the woman and save mankind who was separated from God;Genesis 3:15 He displayed His power to the people who understood the significance of the sacrificial offering.Exodus 3:18 He worked through the people who believed in the promise that the virgin will give birth to a son and will call Him Immanuel.Isaiah 7:14 Today God searches for the people who confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.Matthew 16:16
2. Those who have experienced the Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ is living even now and is at work by the Holy Spirit. The kingdom of God is established wherever the Holy Spirit is at work, and when we receive the filling of the Holy Spirit, we are vested with the power that no man can stop. When the people who experience the Gospel seek the filling of the Holy Spirit, God hears their prayers and grants them the power to change the world. People who pray do not fail and God takes responsibility over their lives.
3. Those who have experienced uniqueness
Those who begin their life anew with the Gospel discover the worth of enjoying and sharing the Gospel upon which they can stake their lives. Those who have experienced the uniqueness of the Gospel know that they can do nothing with their own power and ask for God’s power daily. Moreover, when they are met with crises and problems, God gives them the accurate answers and fulfills His plan through all the incidents and things that happen. He allows them to meet the people who must hear the Gospel and grants them the sense of specialty and wisdom in the work that they do so that they can live their whole life sharing the Gospel.
