The providence of God who isYthe light
1 John 1:1~4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. If we enjoy the Gospel in our real life instead of just being content with knowing the Gospel in our heads, then our lives will begin to change. Not only will we have conviction in our heart but answers will follow to the extent that people around us will notice. Therefore, there is no time to waste with dwelling in silly conflicts. If we spend a happy time of enjoying the Gospel daily, then the power of the Gospel we enjoy will come upon our families, school, workplace and everywhere else. God’s will and plan will be fulfilled through every work. This is the kingdom of God that we must enjoy today. What kind of answers will follow?
1. God gives us great evidence through small things
John was a man with many shortcomings. He was a lowly fisherman, uneducated and ignorant, but he was someone who continued the Gospel movement from the first encounter with Jesus until his last breath. The place of the Last Supper, the place where the greatest answers began and the place where the members of the Early Church gathered and prayed was John’s house. John may have offered his small heart, but great works took place. If we persevere with the Gospel in our life, God will provide us with great evidence through small things.
2. God provides us with the power to overcome persecution
The Jews persecuted those who followed the Gospel and the members of the Early Church. Roman law during that time allowed executions of all Christians who did not serve the king but believed in Jesus. However, the more they persecuted Christians who had the Gospel, the more the number increased. Eventually, Christians evangelized Rome in 250 years. When the Holy Spirit is at work, the fields and people that appear unchangeable will change. The true Gospel breaks down the forces of darkness and enables us to have victory even though it may take some time.
3. God enables us to have victory by giving us the Word
Jesus Christ came to destroy the work of the devil. The one who obliterated all the curses is with us. John who recorded about Jesus Christ had no choice but to receive God’s blessings. Being moved by the Holy Spirit, he believed and followed the Word of life even though he was a fisherman. His faith allowed him to record the moments of grace and answers as the Word. John understood how great the blessings were that were fulfilled within the Word. When the Word of God is fulfilled in our lives, it does not matter what kind of state we are in.
