Blessing of evangelism and missions
Ephesians 2:1~3 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Similarly, when saved children of God discover the true value of the Gospel and blessings of salvation, they will naturally relay it to others around them. There is no one in the world that is completely sated. Even though they may be wealthy or have acclaim, they have hidden problems and pain of their own. So if we have experienced true peace and happiness in Christ, we need to relay this truth to others in the world. How can we see and enjoy missions and evangelism?
1. There is a reason to receive salvation
Mankind died from their sins and transgressions.Ephesians 2:1 After leaving God, mankind is in a spiritually dead state of slavery. They are like slaves to Satan, who has control of the air, and are by nature, children of wrath. Salvation signifies complete liberation from such curses and death. Salvation goes beyond simple solution to our sins; it means rejuvenation of our dead spirits, and living a new life by the grace of God. When we discover the true meaning of salvation, we will have reason to evangelize.
2. We must discover the blessing of salvation and evangelism
The Bible says that Jesus Christ saved man while we were dead in our nature of sins and transgressions. Salvation means believing in Jesus Christ and being liberated from our past.Ephesians 2:1 Not only are we freed from our past, we are also freed from the sufferings and problems of the presentEphesians 2:2, as well as problems to come in the future.Ephesians 2:6 Nothing can be a problem for us after receiving salvation through Christ Jesus. This is the blessing of salvation, and sharing this blessing with others is evangelism.
3. The blessing of missions is the blessing of seeing the world
So many people think that missions entails going abroad to volunteer and relay the Gospel, but in fact, evangelism and missions begin by accurately knowing and enjoying the Gospel in our very own fields. When we meditate and enjoy the blessings of salvation, we will see people and the field through spiritual eyes. We will discover the true reason for evangelism, and realize that missions is, indeed, the greatest blessing. World evangelization is God’s desire. When God’s desire becomes the foremost priority in our lives and our commission, God will bless us all the more.
