True tears
2 Timothy 1:1~4 Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. (4) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #364 Sweet Hour of Prayer (#482 in previous version) When we watch a sad movie or read an inspirational book, or even when we experience something unexpected or hard to bear, our eyes fill with tears. However, there are rarely any people who shed true tears as they look towards the dying field. What must we change in order to become individuals who have true tears as we look at the field?
1. We must change our tears
It is difficult for us to have a frustrated heart for the field because of our own personal circumstances. Though we have received salvation, we do not know very well what kind of answers we can receive when we hold onto the Word of God. This is because we do not know how great the power that is in the Gospel is. As we look at this age and the field, if we begin to have a sense of commission for the sake of the Gospel, we will connect in our tears. If the meaning of our tears changes within the Gospel, we can change the dying field and the world.
2. True happiness must change
The end times will be a time of suffering. People will begin to think that seeking after temporary pleasures to try and forget their suffering, and doing things that are harmful to their body and harmful to others are all acceptable means of obtaining happiness. This is the plan of Satan to bring destruction to mankind. The Bible says that the way for us to gain salvation is by the Word of God and that the Word is a guide to lead the children of God towards the path of righteousness. True happiness is gained when we hold onto the Word of God and when we become strong in the grace of God.
3. We must have a commission
The reason why the children of God prepare for the future and study is so that they can save the successful individuals. The commission of the evangelist is to fulfill the duties of an evangelist in season or out of season. In order to enjoy the power of God, we need faith, courage, and commission. Even when suffering and hardships come our way in life, if we wait like Joseph, the day to restore our commission will come.
