Ministry of Tychicus
Colossians 4:7~8 Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord. I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #497 I Love to Tell the Story (#274 in previous version) Paul’s co-worker, Tychicus, was with him during every hardship as Paul preached the Gospel. In every field, with every person, and in every time schedule, he accurately saw and made judgments regarding the work of God with the eyes of the Gospel. He also fulfilled the important work of reporting the situation of the field to other evangelists. In order to live the life of a blessed evangelist like Tychicus, what are the facts that we must be aware of?
1. We need to report the circumstances of the field
Tychicus provided an accurate report of the personal circumstances of Paul, as well as the situation of the field. He prayed the prayer of connecting the ministry of the servant of the Lord and the disciple, and he was someone who encouraged the heart of the evangelist. No matter how renowned an individual may be, if he does not know the plan of God that is hidden in the field, he will not have the eyes to see the field. Only when you correctly see the problems of the field can you pray the prayer of connecting with others in your ministry.
2. We must see the works of God and the spiritual facts
Most people cannot see the spiritual facts correctly and are either chased by the world or live drenched within the culture of the world. Because they do not know what the spiritual facts are, they cannot overcome the world. Satan brings failure to us in the field and hinders us from receiving grace. For this reason, we must not be deceived as we look at the field and we must not be deceived by the strategy of Satan. If we can factually see the prepared plan of God and the spiritual problems of the field, the forces of darkness will crumble.
3. We must enjoy the power of the Holy Spirit as we think about the important fruits
Even if the children of God make mistakes because of their weaknesses and lose hold of the spiritual facts, their status as children of God does not change. However, because the Word of God is living and at work, if we correctly receive answers, great blessings are prepared for us. When children of God pray, the hidden fruits in the field will be revealed, and wherever the children of God go, the forces of darkness will break. In order to break down the forces of darkness that have conquered the field, we must not forget that we are children of God and instead, enjoy the power of the Holy Spirit.
