Remnant years
Psalm 78:70~72 He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; from tending the sheep be brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #397 In Heavenly Love Abiding (#454 in previous version) During the time in which Remnants prepare for their future, there are many hardships they experience and mistakes that they make. Instead of becoming discouraged during times like these, you must understand the Remnant years correctly. Am I really a child of God who confessed that Jesus is the Christ? All you need to do is confirm this one fact. God will hold fast to Remnants who have the Gospel and lead them as the ones to save this age. Then, in what time schedule are Remnants in?
1. Time of decisions Psalm 78:70~72
During the Remnant years, one must come to the resolution of Jesus Christ in the Word, in prayer and in evangelism. That is because God is still with us through His Word, prayer, and evangelism. It is at this time that Remnants can see their future direction. While Remnant David was just a shepherd, his future direction was decided. He didn’t simply choose the road to become king; he was chosen to be the king with the Gospel. The skill of using a slingshot that was used to fight against Goliath was prepared by God when he was chosen to be king.
2. Time to challenge
Even if you are young in your years, you must receive God’s grace and be able to pray in order to challenge towards what God has prepared for you. Once you are prepared, God will allow you to hold on to the covenant of this age. God gave David the covenant to plan to build the temple that would house the Ark of the Covenant. That was why David was able to stand before Goliath so boldly. When you realize the covenant first, you aren’t just making a random challenge; you can make a bold challenge with the sure covenant.
3. Time to prepare your future
The Remnant years are a time to prepare for your future. All you need to do is pray and do your best in the small things so that God can use you when He needs you. It may seem as if a hardship came to you by coincidence, but it is from God to prepare you for the future. This doesn’t mean that you need to grit your teeth and give it all you have, but it is about holding on to God’s covenant for you, praying, and preparing during the time of the Remnant. At this time God will give the answer of uniqueness and strength to save the world.
