Way to live as an evangelist
Acts 1:3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #191 I’m Rejoicing Night and Day (#427 in previous version) It is important to live your life as an evangelist that shares the Gospel after becoming a saved, child of God. However, even evangelists cannot avoid problems that reality throws at them. There are times when family problems become their stumbling block, or interpersonal issues hold them down, and even times when they feel frustrated because of financial problems. When you don''t set aside time to pray to gain spiritual strength, not only will you be unable to save others, you will find yourself struggling within your own problems. If you are an evangelist, then you must meet with God one on one while sharing all your conflicts and situations, then gain the strength that He gives. In detail, what does it mean to live the life of an evangelist?
1. Past - change what has been instilled in you!
What you have been instilled with during your childhood can determine your life. What one has within their unconscious level of thought is very important. We must confirm what has been long instilled in our soul and heart and change it into the Gospel. Things instilled in us that are not of the Gospel will ultimately become our nature and will lead us to failure. We must especially change the scars of our thoughts and hearts that have been instilled in us with the Gospel.
2. Present - enjoy your blessings!
God has already prepared all of our blessings ever since He called us as His evangelists; so prepare the right attitude to enjoy these blessings. It is good to team up with people from your church to share God’s Word and share your concerns about evangelism. It is also a good method to receive answers by teaming up with people according to related majors and fields of interest to prepare your skills. As you enjoy and gather the blessings of today little by little, the answers of tomorrow will show.
3. Future - prepare your vessel!
We have been called as evangelists so answers will absolutely follow. Therefore, we must prepare our vessels to receive these answers. First, we must change the order of how we do all things. We shouldn’t pray for success, we should just do everything inside of prayer. Also, complete a masterpiece of your life everyday. When we seek God’s unique answer in our day to day normal life that doesn’t seem very important at all, God will fill us with answers that are one of a kind.
- What goes on in your head during your time alone? Those things might be the things that are instilled in your heart and soul. May the Gospel replace the scars that are within your heart and soul and start taking the time to communicate with God today. PK Retreat Lecture 2 /2012. 8. 13
