Spiritual battle
Ephesians 6:10~20 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (12) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #350 March We Onward (#393 in previous version) At times we feel weak and powerless before the problems at hand. We are helpless and feeble for we are mere humans. Beyond man’s power, however, children of God possess the spiritual power that God has granted them. If we have the spiritual power in possession, we can easily conquer the spiritual battle against the forces of darkness. What is the spiritual mystery that we must enjoy in order to win the victory in spiritual battle?
1. Thanksgiving is the greatest power
Many people have worries and complaints rather than thanksgiving, and negative thoughts rather than positive thoughts. However, our complaints, grumbling and unbelief not only kill us but cause hard times for others. Whenever worries, complaints, discontentment or negative thoughts creep into our minds, we must meditate on the Word of God that has been given to us and find true thanksgiving. When we meditate on the blessings that God has given to us, we realize how invaluable the blessing of salvation is. Starting then, thanksgiving will be restored naturally.
2. We must be aware of the power that God has given to the church
Church is not a place where we simply go once a week to attend a service. God loves the church, which is the temple of God, and has raised pastors, elders, future generation and believers for His desire. If we uncover the blessings and power of God, which are hidden inside the church, the prayer topics of our church become our own prayer topics and the commission of believers becomes our commission. When we uncover God’s plan and the significance of the Word of God inside the church, God will give us the answer of God’s kingdom coming upon us in our lives.
3. We must begin the spiritual battle
We as the ones who have accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts have already won the victory in the spiritual battle. Satan, however, still deceives and hinders people so that the people of the world cannot learn about the Gospel. For evangelism and missions which are God’s desire, we must equip ourselves with the Word of God and communicate with God through prayer. When we begin the spiritual battle as we believe in the power and authority that God has given to us, we will receive the answer of our lives being restored and doors of evangelism opening in our field.
- When we enjoy the Gospel, communicate with God and experience the blessing of evangelism, we will gain the spiritual power and win the victory in spiritual battle.
