What we must see prior to problems
Acts 3:6~10 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (6) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #259 Have You Been to Jesus (#193 in previous version) Through vast developments in medicine, the average life span is looking at 100 years of age, and even still, there are many people who are suffering from nameless ailments and diseases. Depression has become almost as common as the cold virus, and mental illness has become such a common problem, despite the fact that it is connected with violent crimes. The world lives in even greater abundance than ever before, but economic troubles only increase. What is the reason why God has permitted these problems? God desires to save the world. Then, what is His plan for saving me?
1. Behind the visible problems, God has a plan for salvation
If a patient with lung cancer only treats his cough, the cancer will begin to spread throughout his body. Behind the visible problems that we see, there is a fundamental problem. Peter looked at the crippled man in front of the temple gates, and he realized that the fact that he was separated from God was an even more serious problem than his physical disability. As soon as he proclaimed the name of Jesus Christ, the cripple stood and ran and praised God. If there are visible problems before us, we must realize the spiritual background for it and see it as an opportunity to testify of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
2. The proclamation of the Gospel is the start of healing
Before we begin to solve the problems that we see with our eyes, we must become children of God and resolve our spiritual problems first. Jesus Christ became the way to meet God and is the solution to all problems. If we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, we will receive the blessings of God as children of God. God is with the believers through His Holy Spirit and He is responsible for their lives and will lead them. If we believe in this fact and are filled with the Holy Spirit, the problems of the world will no longer be considered a problem.
3. We must enjoy the status and authority of being a child of God T
he children of God can enjoy spiritual strength that God gives through prayer. Wherever the believers go, the forces of darkness will be bound and the kingdom of God will come upon us. Though the obstacles in the world may appear to be great, with the power of God, we can more than overcome them. When we enjoy this mystery every day, we can enjoy true peace and happiness and will be used for the work of God.
