Emotional healing
Philippians 4:6~7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #252 What Can Wash Away my Sin (#184 in previous version) If you look around you, there are people who are easily irritated, and there are also people who always seem to be at peace. The kind of character or actions you display are largely dependent on the kinds of emotions you harbor in your heart. If you heart is filled with hurt feelings and distorted emotions, you will see everything in a negative light and as a result, make incorrect choices. When your heart is happy and at peace, the way that you interact with others will change, and you will not despair before problems. As a result, you will make the correct choices. Then, how can we rein in our negative feelings and restore peace in our hearts?
1. We must stand before God
Many people take part in meditation and the chi (energy) movement in order to control their emotions. However, this only provides temporary relief and cannot provide continuous peace. The 7 Remnants in the Bible thought and acted before God, and for this reason, there was nothing for them to worry or grow anxious about. They always remembered the blessing of Immanuel of God being with them and thought with spiritual eyes and with spiritual standards rather than the eyes of the world. At this time, all of their anxiety, rage, anger, and sadness were restored into reasons for thanksgiving.
2. We must gain the strength that surpasses even our hurt feelings
People are weak, and for this reason, they cannot control their own emotions. However, God knows the thoughts and hearts of His children, and He leads His children to be bold in front of problems and grants peace before events that unfold. When we gain spiritual strength through prayer, we are given the strength to overcome our hurt feelings, as well. Paul blessed Timothy to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 2:1). There is no reason to fear for those who have tasted the power of God.
3. We must be happy with the Gospel
The world posits that people can only be happy with money, prestige, and a good education. However, true happiness is nowhere to be found inside of the world. When we restore prayer and the meditation of the Word every day, we will be able to enjoy our studies and our work within the power of God. We will also discover happiness. Then, if we hold onto the Word that God has given to us today and do our best before God, God will be responsible for our futures and He will lead us towards the best path. This is the life that is happy in the Gospel.
