Healing of scars
Ephesians 1:3~5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #522 Why Not Believe, My Brother? (#269 in previous version) Everyone has scars. Scars may form because of families, society, and interpersonal relationships. If we overcome scars, they can be used to serve as a foundation for a better life; however, if you dwell upon your scars, you are bound to fail. All scars can be solved through Jesus Christ. Yet, despite knowing this truth, many people are discouraged because of their scars. How can we receive healing of our past scars within the Gospel?
1. Know, confirm, and enjoy the Gospel
Knowing the Gospel in and of itself is a blessing. However, in order to receive healing of our scars and problems, we must confirm and actually enjoy the Gospel. By meditating upon the Word and praying, we can confirm that the Gospel is the answer to our lives. Set aside a time and even for just a few minutes, offer your entire self to God. Then, you will discover God’s plan for you and the Word will be fulfilled in your life. Your limitations and scars will no longer be problems.
2. Take your past as your platform and have success today
Even if you have past scars and hurtful memories, you must not think to yourself that you can’t do anything because of these scars. Instead, you must meditate deeply on the Word and make a resolution to discover God’s plan because of these scars. God will then establish your scars as a firm platform. Meditate upon the Word of God daily and as you challenge yourself with small tasks, these small accomplishments with gradually accumulate and become a great answer for you in the future. Surpass your scars and take one step further, and you will be able to see the answers God has prepared.
3. Restore thanksgiving
Those who do not have the healing of the scars of their hearts are overwhelmed with complaints and resentment. Harboring unbelief is like slowly killing yourself. Despite your weaknesses, God has called you as His child, and He gives you new strength and power. If you do not know this fact, you will despair before problems and worry about your future. If you find yourself within the Word, you will restore thanksgiving. When you realize your spiritual identity as well as the blessings that you have received, thanksgiving will be restored, and your scars will be healed.
