The Gospel that changes the world
Romans 1:16~17 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #552 When the Morning Breaks Anew (#358 in previous version) Although Rome had been a superpower nation in the past, Israel was just a small nation that had no power of its own, and as a result, it became colonized under Rome for a long period of time. However, through the powerless nation of Israel, the Gospel was spread throughout all of Rome—not just Rome, but the entire world was conquered by the Gospel. The present situation is no different from the past. Then, how must we enjoy the Gospel that changes the world?
1. In times of crisis, God always bestows His blessings
Endless hardships and suffering came upon the Israelites. They were taken as either slaves or captives to neighboring superpower nations such as Egypt and Babylon. However, God had a plan behind every single incident that arose. When they were slaves and captives in Egypt and Babylon, respectively, they were set free when they held onto the covenant of Jesus Christ. They experienced in the wilderness that God is responsible for all things, that He protects them and leads them. When we look at the answers that are hidden behind the situations that we face, crises become blessings.
2. The only answer in this world is the Gospel
The world is filled with problems. Regarding these problems, numerous individuals attempt to provide solutions. However, with man’s strength alone, the fundamental problem of mankind cannot be resolved. The Bible states that there is no one righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10); thus, everyone has sinned and fall short of the glory of God. However, God sent Jesus Christ to the earth to solve the fundamental problem that we cannot solve by our own strength. (Romans 5:8) When you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9~10)
3. Through one individual that knows the Gospel, the world can be changed
The Gospel possesses the power to change the world. Through one individual that holds onto the Gospel, the Gospel will be preached to all nations. I must restore thanksgiving for the Gospel and salvation I have received, and through prayer I must discover the answers within my field. I must abandon all my standards, thoughts, and scars to begin anew before the Lord. Then, God will reveal His time schedule, and bestow the answer of moving the world for the sake of world evangelization.
