The culture that has been lost to the forces of darkness
Exodus 3:1~10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt. (10) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #442 I Come to the Garden Alone (#499 in previous version) The culture of the world exudes considerable influence on our lives. We may admire the glamorous outward façade of celebrities, and may be envious of their appearance, wealth, and popularity. In particular, visual media is so deeply entrenched in the lives of modern man that we feel empty when our TV shows are not airing. What kind of spiritual wisdom do we need to survive as people with the Gospel in such a formidable world?
1. Discovering what has been lost to the forces of darkness
If we fail to discover the answers of uniqueness by drifting away to other thoughts during worship, we will lose hold of our hearts to the forces of darkness. We need to see the plan God has for our futures through worship, and realize the mystery God has given to us in the face of problems in order to recover our hearts from the forces of darkness. If we possess God-given strength, God will fight the forces of darkness ahead of us.
2. Becoming a person who restores the world culture
God promised to restore the culture lost to Satan through the Israelites. But the Israelites failed to enjoy spiritual blessings because they were too busy trying to solve their problems using their own methods. We may watch TV every night or become entrenched in worldly culture to ward off loneliness or occasional difficulties. And because we are children of God, this will not lead to our destruction, but because it takes quite a while to recover from, we need to take into our hearts and thoughts the Word of God every day anew.
3. The 7 Remnants who succeeded in conquering the culture
We prioritize our own natures while precariously maintaining a life of the Gospel. But to truly succeed amidst sufferings like the 7 Remnants and conquer the culture, we need to thoroughly change our nature so it does not become a channel for Satan. Scars and personal dispositions will not block the path of people who are with God, even as they walk through the valley of the shadow of death. The power to save the world comes from within prayer, as we acknowledge our weaknesses, and lay everything before God.
- There are so many things that keep us busy, and so many things to study, but change your day by prioritizing the Lord as your shepherd and being led by the Holy Spirit. Core Training Message / 2012.7.21
