The mystery of being with God
John 14:16~17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #446 I Need Thee Every Hour (#500 in previous version) Even though Joseph faced hardships that he had never anticipated and was sold into slavery, he did not try to come up with a countermeasure. He did not struggle to escape from his situation, much less set his mind on seeking revenge on his brothers. No matter where he was, it did not matter to him. This was because he had the mystery of God being with him. Do we have the mystery by which we do not waver under any circumstances or problems?
1. Go as you heed God’s signpost
We can mark the distance and direction when we look at the signpost on the road. Likewise, we can learn the direction of our lives and the course our lives will take when we receive God’s guidance. We will receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit the moment we believe and enjoy the fact that God is with us. We can experience the power of God when we completely entrust to God all the works that we could not do by our own efforts, experience and ability, and our lives will be transformed when we receive God’s guidance.
2. Go as you heed God’s time schedule
If we can see the time schedule by which God works, we can receive immeasurable answers. God will work when we resolve all our life’s problems with Jesus Christ, become children of God, seek the filling of the Holy Spirit and enjoy the kingdom of God. He will bring His Word to fulfillment, open doors of evangelism and prepare disciples for us to meet. As we look at the conditions of our church and willingly offer what God has given to us, God will fill us many-fold with answers.
3. Go as you heed God’s goal
If we turn our attention to God’s concerns, our lives will be changed to that of great worth. God directs His attention to His church and disciples. By the power of the Gospel, disciples change the places that they are in with their specialty in their specialized fields. God has prepared in each and every age the people who will accomplish God’s works and will save the world through them. We must examine whether we are walking the path of disciples and whether we are looking for the disciples that God has prepared.
-If we receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will be used whenever God needs us. Our lives will be successful when we rid us of ourselves and the Holy Spirit begins to work in us. Let us meditate deeply on our life’s signpost, time schedule and goal. Gyeongin Region Evangelism Conference Lecture 2 / 2012.7.10
