Eyes to see the works of God
Genesis 45: 1~8 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. (7~8) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #540 Far, Far Away in Heathen Darkness Dwelling (#219 in previous version) The 7 Remnants in the Bible did not sway in the midst of their environment, atmosphere, or by people because they had the assurance in God’s promise. With that assurance, they were able to wait while looking towards God’s time schedule. When you firmly hold onto the Word when problems and hardships come before you time and time again, you will not be deceived by your environment or yourself. If you knew that answers were going to come ahead of time then you would gain leisure, and in the moment of making decisions, you can receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit. What must I know to see the realistic works of God in my life?
1. I must know a personal way to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit
No matter who you may be, if you do not enjoy the Gospel, you will end up conflicting before decisions, wandering here and there, unable to maintain interpersonal relationships and ultimately falling into conflict. From the moment you start your day until the moment you fall asleep, instead of being joyful and full of thanksgiving, you are anxious and full of worries. There absolutely must be a time in your day to enjoy the filling of the Holy Spirit in order to experience God being with you and for others to see you and gain strength. Absolutely discover your own personal method inside the Gospel to enjoy the filling of the Holy Spirit.
2. Discover the method to see the fulfillment of the Word
Even if you wanted to enjoy the Gospel in your life, if you are swayed by your mind, thoughts, and emotions, it will be difficult to gain the strength to meditate on the Word. Simply trying to solve a problem when problems arise will only prevent you from having a victorious walk of faith. It is not about doing something in particular to solve it, but through hearing the voice of God within the Word. God has saved you from before creation and He is giving you the Word that will be fulfilled even now. Place the Word of God deep in your heart and meditate deeply on it while applying it in your life. This is when you will taste the fulfillment of God’s Word.
3. You can see the answers when you enjoy the mystery of prayer
Joseph believed in the power of God and never fell into hardships or temptations. He did not fall into conflict or give up with a pessimistic view on life. Joseph prayed as he waited for God’s plan within all his sufferings and failures. Even through the constant hardships that keep you from having the strength to get back up and the times that make you think that you amount to nothing, we must not lose hold of the mystery of prayer and endure until answers come, just like Joseph.
