Raise the level of your faith
Genesis 12: 1~2 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family, and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #502 Heralds of the Light, Be Swift (#259 in previous version) Oftentimes, we try to solve the hardships that arise before our eyes, but end up losing hope, feeling discouraged, and then giving up. Abraham also fell into the physical hardships around him and lost hold of the blessings that God gave him. We will continue to fail if our level is at par with unbelievers. What do we need to raise the level of our faith?
1. New strength to not be deceived
People of the world are taking control of the world’s economy, and many people are enslaved to money. As the economy of darkness develops, the economy will continue to become corrupt, and people will be drawn into the culture of the world. When the evangelist to save the world is prepared, God will use the economy and finances He has allowed the unbelievers to take hold of and use it for world evangelization. We need God’s new strength in order to not be deceived by the world that only gives temporary happiness.
2. Make a resolution before God without being mistaken
Abraham didn’t believe in God’s Word. He worried about how he was going to live and how he was going to make a living after he had “left his father’s house.” These concerns were important to Abraham because he lived an abundant life. However, Abraham was a man that God promised to give His blessings to. Although he went through many sufferings until he had assurance, Abraham always followed God’s Word. Are you happy with your life right now? As children of God, we must resolve to put aside our thoughts and receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit instead.
3. There is something that God has prepared for me
Abraham was oblivious to the fact that the land of Chaldea was going to be destroyed when he lived for physical things. Knowing this, God tells Abraham in advance to move to the land that God would bless. God prepares everything for us in advance and then desires for us to follow His Word. Through meditation on God’s Word we must gain wisdom and through prayer discover what it is that God has prepared for us.
- God desires for us bring to realization the covenant that Abraham realized. Confirm whether or not you are prepared to receive blessings like Abraham, and raise up your level of faith. Immanuel Church Sunday Worship 1st Service / 2012 6. 17
