The blessing of the covenant Abraham enjoyed
Genesis 12: 1~3 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (2~3) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #620 Gathered Here within this Place (#455 The Trusting Heart to Jesus Clings in previous version) Despite having received salvation, if one does not believe in the promise of God then they must inevitably live their life like an unbeliever. It is quite similar to a king of royalty who has yet to abandon his nature of a degrading peasant. When you realize your identity and fully enjoy the blessings of God, there is no need to be bound by the tribulations in life. You will gain freedom and have the leisure to help those around you. Am I able to enjoy the blessings that Abraham enjoyed?
1. If you possess the eyes of faith
When you open the eyes of faith you can see the covenant. With the eyes of the Gospel, you can see the covenant that was given to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15 and the essence of the ark of Genesis 6:14, in which anybody who enters can be saved. You will understand why God called Abraham to lead him into the promised land. You can also see the reason why God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son, yet had prepared a ram in his stead to reveal the mystery of salvation.
2. If you know God’s time schedule and resolve
God commanded Abraham to leave his father’s household. Not being able to leave and to continue to wander signifies that I am unable to disregard my personal possessions. It is because you do not know the magnitude of blessings pertaining to the promised land. By following the Word of God and choosing faith, God will begin to work in your life. He will attach people of faith to you and reveal His work to you.
3. If you receive the strength that God gives
When Abraham abandoned his unbelief and came to a resolution, he built an altar. By remembering the covenant of Genesis 13:18, you will start to gain the power of God. When you hold God as the master of your life and pray for the kingdom of God to be established wherever you are, the Holy Spirit works. There is no other strength or background greater than this. When you devote yourself constantly to prayer, you will then enjoy the filling of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:14).
