What we must do in our alone time
Genesis 45:1~5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. (5) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #540 I am Thine, O Lord, I Have Heard Thy Voice (#219 in previous version) All sins of us men who were destined to die will disappear and we will gain new life the moment we believe in Jesus Christ. Because of the hindrances of the forces of darkness, however, people, who are supposed to enjoy the blessings that God has given to them, cannot even comprehend what is wrong. In order to recover and enjoy the blessings that we have lost to Satan, we must gain power during our alone time. What do we need in order to save the world?
1. Waiting in order to experience the power of God
The 7 Remnants and people of faith in the Bible who were used by God to the end never doubted the covenant that God had given to them but waited as they prayed. Just as we have anticipation for meeting important people, we must believe in the promise of God and wait with the heart of anticipation and longing. When we have the heart to wait for the working of the Holy Spirit, we can experience the power of God.
2. Status and authority that children of God must enjoy
When we face unexpected hardships or fears, we want to escape from or avoid such circumstances. As this state continues on, we tend to seek pleasures to heal our heavy-laden hearts rather than to pray. In addition, if we lack spiritual power, we will only grumble about the circumstances that we are placed in. If we are aware of the spiritual background that we have from praying, we can enjoy the background of heaven wherever we are.
3. Power to survive on our own
Those who like to be around others or who cannot bear their alone time will find it difficult to be by themselves and will need help from others. Those who lack the mystery of prayer will constantly try to solve their problems and be deceived by the forces of darkness as they fall deeply into loneliness. If we are deceived by the forces of darkness, our lives will fall into great confusion. Though we may have no one to help us, we are not alone; when we believe that God is with us and pray, we can gain new strength.
- Just like the 7 Remnants in the Bible who survived hardships on their own, let us seek the pleasure of being with God in our alone time. Philippines Remnant Conference Lecture 1 / 2012.5.30
