(2) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #361 ‘Tis the Blessed Hour of Prayer (#480 in previous version) In the Bible, Simon the tanner was a successful businessperson in Joppa where he lived. God raised Simon as the church lay leader of that region, and had him share the Gospel. In every region, the Gospel gets shared to the entire region through the workers God has established. Why did God send me to this region that I am living in? Also, what is the plan of God for my field?
1. The regional evangelization of figures in the Bible
Luke and Theophilus of the Bible received the answer of regional evangelization. Luke who was a doctor stood in the forefront, shared the Gospel, and pulled forward the church. When Luke prayed for the disciples of God who would be raised in the field, God gave the answer of regional evangelization through the meeting with Theophilus. The Gospel was testified in the regions where Simon the tanner and Lydia who was a dealer in purple cloth lived, and God blessed their businesses.
2. The characteristic of people who enjoyed the answer of regional evangelization
There was a common characteristic between Luke and Theophilus who received the answer of regional evangelization in the Bible. They saw the world with objective eyes. In addition, they saw the age with the eyes of the Gospel, and they discovered what God wanted the most. As they had a sense of objectivity and a sense of the age, they saw the uniqueness of the Gospel and the uniqueness of evangelism. Through individuals who realize this mystery, God not only causes the works of regional evangelization but the works of testifying the Gospel to each and every nation of the world.
3. The Early Church gained the strength of uniqueness
The Early Church that surpassed the region and shared the Gospel to the entire world enjoyed the blessing of uniqueness. They first enjoyed the uniqueness of the Gospel. Before sharing the Gospel, they bound the culture of darkness in the region, and they knew there was no method to save lives. In addition, knowing the uniqueness of prayer, they believed in the power of prayer. Finally, they knew the uniqueness of evangelism. They accurately knew the reason to evangelize and the reason God called them in the field.
