Daniel who made a resolution
Daniel 1:1~9 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel. (8~9) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #540 Far, Far Away in Heathen Darkness Dwelling (#219 in previous version) Daniel made a resolution before God. According to Daniel 1:8, it did not simply happen on a whim; rather, he followed God’s plan while continuing to praying to God. When God’s desire becomes our very own desire, the Holy Spirit will guide us and fulfill everything in our lives. When we stake our lives on God’s plan, God will answer us with the greatest of blessings. How do can we discover God’s will and plan?
1. When we make a resolution, God will give us wisdom
When Daniel saw God as he was on the brink of death, God imparted to Daniel knowledge enough to interpret King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Through this, the king of Gentiles acknowledged the true God, and Daniel praised Him. Additionally, the king took kindly to Daniel, who had by then interpreted a second dream, and as a result, he rose to the position of chancellor. Even in the face of death, Daniel chose the covenant of God, and God led Daniel to acquire further wisdom and power.
2. When we make a resolution, God will give us the blessing of meetings
After he made the resolution, God led Daniel to meet his three friends. They formed a system that supported each other to remain firm despite perils and difficulties. In Daniel 3:8~24, Daniel and his three friends had a connection in faith, honed their talents while making resolutions before God. When we align our will with God’s plan, God will lead us to meet evangelism disciples.
3. When we make a resolution, God will change our perils into opportunities
Daniel faced death several times, but prayed wholeheartedly all the while. He knew that the two wicked politicians were creating a conspiracy against him, but was not afraid because he knew God’s will. Though he received the punishment of entering the den of lions, he instead ended up confirming that God was alive, even in death. The Lord sent angels to block the mouth of the lions, and all people of all nations were able to see that He was God.
