The mystery of the evangelism movement
Acts 3:1~12 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (6) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #357 Am I a Soldier of the Cross (#387 in previous version) The Bible records many miracles and incidents of grace. Peter was able to raise the paralytic begging before the temple gate Beautiful in the name of Jesus Christ, and Jesus too was able to perform many miracles, including the feeding of the multitude. But what is important is not the miracle of its own accord. All miracles happened through the mystery of ‘Jesus Christ,’ and had the effect of relaying the Gospel. Before focusing on the things that are visible, we must understand the mystery of the evangelism movement.
1. Church gospelization (Acts 1:8)
Today, many churches are consolidating themselves as ecclesiastical powers, taking extreme positions and becoming politicized. But for the evangelism movement, we must first save the church. World evangelization will not take place overnight. We must embrace the world field in our hearts. When we do so and pray, the doors of evangelism will be opened. Instead of embracing worldly motives, the church must be firmly concluded in the Gospel of only Jesus Christ. It is at this time that God will relay the Word through the church.
2. Spiritual problems and the healing of spiritual problems
Despite having accepted Jesus in their hearts and having received salvation, many people still suffer from spiritual problems. When spiritual problems are not solved, mental and physical distress is bound to follow, and as a result, people will only focus on the world to the cost of losing hold of the spiritual mystery. The reason the world is riddled with societal problems including soaring crime rates and depression rates is because the spiritual problems are not being solved. We must look at the problems of the world, understand the fundamental cause and heal the spiritual problems first.
3. Disciples (Romans 16)
The world is growing increasingly weak, and many people in the world are suffering from problems without any seeming cause. There is only one mystery to solve these problems: only the Gospel. God wants to raise disciples who have staked their lives on the work of God, and wants to relay this Gospel to all ends of the earth. When we raise disciples with the true Gospel as we enjoy the blessing of meetings in our lives, the doors of evangelism will open and the blessings of world evangelization will begin.
