Urgently needed healing of powerlessness
Isaiah 40:27~31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (31) Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #435 Thou, My Everlasting Portion (#492 in previous version) We say people are powerless or in a state of lethargy when they lack the fortitude to handle situations that arise. Because human beings are spiritual beings, if we do not meet with God, we will fall into the deceit of the forces of darkness and suffer depression of mental illnesses. When our social lives become difficult to maintain as a result of our struggle against mental distress, it is a given that academics or other duties seem difficult. Our financial situations may fall into disarray, and as a result, we may feel that we are even more powerless. Is there a way to resolve this feeling of powerlessness?
1. Only the Holy Spirit
Only Christ solved all of man’s problems. Through His death on the cross and resurrection, man has been saved from the sin and curses of having left God and living with Satan’s fetters. When we believe and pray holding on to this truth, the kingdom of God will come upon us, no matter how powerless we may be. When we receive the filling of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome our torpor, regardless of how powerless or incapable we may actually be. When we focus our hearts and thoughts on God, we can enjoy the filling of the Holy Spirit.
2. Only power
People decide and think according to their own thoughts. But there is a limit to people’s intellect and information acquisition, and may make mistakes. When we align our own standards with God’s mistake-free standards, we can overcome powerlessness. Power and ability that cannot possibly be expressed through words lies in the name of Jesus Christ. When we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will work, and God will send angels to guide us. It is when we have this power that we will be able to overcome our powerlessness.
3. Only witness
There are people who are lost and wandering without knowing the Gospel despite going to church. There are people who have received salvation, but remain lost without knowing God’s true desire. God told us that we would be His witnesses to all ends of the earth (Acts 1:8) as He called us- powerless and incapable as we were. When we believe and pray with this Word, God will absolutely work and give us evidence. It cannot be done with our own strength, but when we believe in the name of Jesus Christ, God will fulfill His works through us.
-Do you say things like, “It won’t work for me,” or “I can’t do it” habitually? God knows that we are utterly incapable. But when we hold firmly onto God’s mighty hand, we will be able to transcend our own torpor. Specialized Ministry Healing Message / 2012. 4. 24
