Prayer that evangelists must restore
Romans 8:1~12 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. (1~2)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #288 Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine (#204 in previous version)
We feel that it is only natural to work and study every day, but if we don’t feel unnatural to have no time to meditate on God’s Word and pray daily, then are we fine as it is? There is no more urgent matter than to meditate on God’s Word for those who know and enjoy the Gospel. What must we know in order to know and enjoy the Gospel as the ones who are living the life of the evangelist?
1. Faith of receiving salvation
God’s Word is living and God is with us even now. We are aware of this and yet do not enjoy it because our faith is weak. Those who deeply enjoy God’s grace can begin praying and come to know God’s time schedule. Salvation is a priceless gift that God has given to us by His grace. When we make a confession of faith of receiving salvation to God who controls our life, Satan will lose his power and not be able to attack us.
2. Power to overcome the power of sin and death
We may have the status and authority of God’s children, but if we do not use them, we will be deceived by Satan. When we believe in Jesus Christ who has saved us from sin and death and use the status and authority of God’s children, the forces of darkness will be bound in the name of Jesus Christ. What we need right now is not our diligence or effort; instead, we must hold on to God’s Word and enjoy the Gospel in our actual lives as we pray.
3. New creation that is free in Jesus Christ
If we are living our Christian walk of faith like that of child who only looks for God when things are urgent or pray to God when things are difficult, then we will lose the joy and heartfelt gratitude of life that is given to God’s children. Satan hinders God’s children from enjoying the mystery of life, makes us weary and tired of life, and makes us distrust God and lose heart as we become bound by problems and circumstances. We must remember that we have gained new life in Jesus Christ and freedom from the forces of darkness.
- That we have received salvation means that the kingdom of God has come upon us. Let us begin the prayer of enjoying the blessing of God’s kingdom in all of our fields. New Believer/Field Ministry Worker Retreat / 2012.4.17
