Choices made by those who have the Gospe
l Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #350 March We Onward (#393 in previous version)
When we hear sad news or encounter something unexpected, we feel as though the world is crumbling around us. On the other hand when good things happen to us or we get a lucky break, we gain strength that we thought we lacked. We have been called as the evangelists who must save this age. Evangelists need the spiritual power and the wisdom in life so that they will not waver or become proud in any situation under any circumstances. How must we live our lives so that we can have unwavering faith?
1. We must make right our unsound natural disposition
There is no one who commits bad actions because they want to. If the surroundings, thoughts or habits that one grew up with are not sound, then they turn into bad actions. In order to right your incorrect natural disposition or thoughts, we must read the Bible and books about successful individuals, which will be of benefit to us. We will gain wisdom as we read books and power as we meditate on God’s Word, and one day we will find ourselves changed.
2. We must examine our spiritual problems
Whoever it may be, everyone lives with some hidden problems. Even though we are God’s children, we may feel burdened or suffer from things that we can’t tell others about. Not sharing with others things that worry us is not something bad, but if we take them lightly and just over look them, they can turn into problems that cannot be corrected. We must find our hidden problems, surrender them before God and the Gospel, meditate deeply and examine ourselves so that we may not be deceived by Satan.
3. We must not be given to legalism
Jewish people who follow the law to the letter may have success, but with the law they can neither solve their spiritual problems nor receive the blessing of salvation. Especially, if we are given to legalism, it can cause distress not only to us but to others as well. Those who belong to the flesh struggle to abide by the law, but those who have the Gospel are saved as they rise above the law with the faith of believing in Jesus Christ. Healing begins when we humble ourselves before God and others and make a correct confession of faith.
- We have the status of being born again from death to life. We must set aside some time and examine in the Gospel whether we have any unsound habits or thoughts so that we will not waver in our lives. Let us deeply meditate on the Gospel that God has given to us. New Believer/Field Ministry Worker Retreat / 2012.4.17
