The mystery that David enjoyed
Psalm 57:6~11 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. (9~11)

Many kings appear in the Bible, but none received greater answers than David. David meditated deeply on the Word enough to write several psalms. He praised God, and he lived his life, looking only to the power of God in the midst of hardships such as the invasion of the Philistines and the persecution of Saul. He possessed specialty, as well as the blessing of Immanuel of God being with him. As we look at the walk of faith of David, we must hold onto a few important things.
1. David tended the flocks and held onto the covenant of the Word of God and his specialty
David was a shepherd who tended the flocks, but at that time, shepherding was not a highly valued occupation. Even still, David did not even lose one lamb, and he did his best at what was entrusted to him. Also, he used his spare time to joyfully meditate on God’s Word, and wrote poems to praise God. David held onto the Word and prayed until the answer came for every one of his problems. He practiced slinging stones, and received the answer of uniqueness. He also produced poems and praises that would move the age.
2. After Samuel anointed David with oil, the Spirit of God came upon David (1 Samuel 16:13)
God used Samuel to anoint David’s head with oil and appointed him as the king. On this day, David held onto an important covenant. First, he held onto the promise that God would raise him as the king as his vision. Second, he knew the importance of the Ark of the Covenant, and he took as his commission the defeat of the Philistines that stole the Ark of the Covenant, as well as the restoration of the Ark of the Covenant. Third, he held onto the covenant of constructing the temple to house the Ark of the Covenant as his covenant. From this day on, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.
3. When the Philistines invaded, he knew the reason to fight
When the Philistines invaded Israel, no one had the courage to stand up against the general of the Philistine army, Goliath. However, David stood before Goliath in order to defeat the Philistines who took the Ark of the Covenant, and also to testify of the fact that God is living. David felled Goliath with the specialty that he had prepared until now, and he had assurance of the fact that God would raise him as the king. He knew the reason to prepare before God, and he confessed true thanksgiving before God without grumbling or complaints.
-David confessed that the victory was already his because God was with him. Meditate on the Word so that you can enjoy the strength that David received today. Immanuel Church Sunday Worship 2nd Service / 2012.4.1
